My first thought with this was to write it off immediately and go about listening to something pleasurable. Perseverance is key to getting to grips with this though. I wasn't expecting what boils down to Marilyn Manson ripped off his tits on crack with a guitar, drum machine, and a plinky-plonky piano. And a sore throat. However, don't let that poor analogy put you off. Given a few listens (and it does take a few), this is quite an interesting piece of art-metal. It won't be appropriate as going-out music, or for showing your parents what you're into these days but, by fuckery, it's excellent for losing yourself in crazy-land. The first track proper is the epic 'Ghost Tower'; a bug-nuts exploration of evil circus music and almost poetry; such is the spoken word nature of the vocal delivery. And it pretty much sums up the vibe that is to follow. Disjointed, intricate, bizarre, epic, visual. All words that could satisfactorily hint at what is contained, but never fully describe what it is. Give it some of your time, allow it to enter your head without resistance, and you'll find a glorious ride. And one that I'm glad I let it take me on.
