BARN BURNER
www.myspace.com/theinfamousbarnburner
‘Bangers’ is the debut from the stoner meets classic metal Canadian 4-piece band Barn Burner. The album has a dirty, gritty, loose sound and features a back to basics production usually associated with classic NWOBHM or early 70s metal. From opener ‘Holy Smokes’ to closer ‘Old Habits’, the songs on ‘Bangers’ are built around some enjoyable old school riffs but sadly Kevin Keegan's voice (no not that KK), which does possess the charm of a NWOBHM vocalist, are actually quite weak. Unfortunately, all the tracks are so similar they start to merge into one another and after a while the rough as a badger’s arse production does start to sound a bit tiresome and amateurish. At least Barn Burner's energy and enthusiasm makes ‘Bangers’ an album that might be worth a listen if you're a rock/metal fan living in a time warp. For anyone else, there will almost certainly be nothing on this album to impress you.
