BULLET
www.bullet.nu
‘Bite The Bullet’, is Swedish 5-piece band Bullet's latest album, their 2nd since reforming in 2002 (following their original split in 1999). The album is well produced with tight and strong, unpretentious musicianship throughout. The songs are of a consistently high standard, straightforward, full of strong pounding riffs and singalong choruses including some great dumb ass backing vocals. It becomes evident right from the opening track ‘Pay The Price’ that this band are heavily influenced by AC/DC at their hard rocking best with Dag Hofer's magnificent and supremely powerful voice coming over like a cross between Brian Johnson and Accept's Udo Dirkschneider. The title track and ‘Dusk Til Dawn’ carry on in the vein of the opener and both are mightily impressive. The really excellent ‘Nailed To The Ground’ has an increased tempo and is an out and out heavy metal stomper. ‘City Of Sins’ is a short instrumental that features a classic early 80s Judas Priest style twin lead before heading straight into the NWOBHM-esque ‘Waste My Time’. ‘Rock Us Tonight’ also brings to mind some classic NWOBHM, in particular early Saxon and ‘Wildcat’ era Tygers of Pan Tang. As a big fan of this period in metal, this is a nostalgic pleasure and my favourite track. ‘The Rebels Return’ is a superb moody and menacing rock song, like Accept at their peak. I can say with certainty that it's a physical impossibility to listen to this album without punching the air, tapping your feet or shaking your head. Bullet sound like they could be awesome live and fans of heads down no nonsense hard rock/metal should find ‘Bite The Bullet’ an essential release.
