‘Tell Your Friends’ is the debut EP from the band Dark Stares. Hailing from St Albans and consisting of Miles Kristian Howell, his two brothers Taylor and Brett as well as Harry Collins, they have created a well rounded and impressive four-piece. Since their formation in early 2011 they have performed many shows and have supported such bands as Enter Shikari and The Darkness. Even though the EP only contains four songs, each and every one is a mini-masterpiece and a absolute joy to listen to from the mind blowing opener ‘Whisky’ to the climactic finish of ‘Invaders’. The influences from Queens Of The Stone Age, Led Zeppelin and White Stripes are present throughout their songs but they have managed to create a sound that is different enough to call their own. It is hard to choose a favourite from the four songs but the one that does stand out for me is ‘We Are the Kings Tonight’ - the combination of vocals and instruments melds to create an amazingly smooth sound that is just amazing to listen to. Great first EP and I look forward to seeing what else they can create in time.
