DEATHRONATION
www.deathronation.de
What to expect from such band-member names as B.S. Cunthammer, Stiff Old, S. Muerte, and Mr. Freeze? A band of misogynist, aging, dead, cold superheroes, perhaps? Who knows, but, compiled from the band’s two demos (tracks one to six are from 2006’s ‘A Soil Forsaken…’; tracks seven to eleven are from 2011’s ‘Exorchrism’), this is so filthy that you’ll have to take a bath in bleach after giving it a blast. The tracks represent every aspect of the band’s history, the latter half being based around material composed between 2004 and 2010 (one being based on a track from 2001 from Stiff Old’s previous band). The first six tracks bear that vicious savagery and ruthless, uncompromising energy that hungry young death metal bands compress into the incendiary material that draws them together. As the remaining tracks are taken from such a wide period of time, the differences between the tracks are significant and the band’s development can be heard. With guitars that are drenched in distortion, the drums are like nails heated to melting point, their heat searing the flesh they are being pounded into, and the death metal vocals lean, at times, towards black metal, Deathronation are a murky, mucky, grimy, and utterly blasphemous bunch. And though an interesting collection of demo material, what’s required now is some new material that proves that the band truly has harnessed such brutality and is ready to fully unleash the barbaric potential established here. Kudos to Iron Bonehead for doing such a good job of putting this collection of dirty morbidity together.
