DESPITE
www.myspace.com/despitegbg
Oh goody, more unoriginal metalcore. Starting out with a big old banner with the words 'At The Gates' faded ever so badly (because so many fuckers have started albums this way) we're faced with a soulless brand of Gates/Killswitch affected tedium. Not only that, but the guitars sound like shit; come on, 1994 was a long time ago and we've all moved on you know. The singer sounds like he's giving it some pain in the studio, but still somehow comes across as being bored. I seriously am getting tired of screamo mimics. The only saving grace is his unusual Patton-esque mumblings at the start of 'Beast in the Cage'. But it's still only icing on a dog turd. In fact, I'm maybe making it sound attractively bad with this, when I honestly mean that it's as dull and outdated as a Michael Jackson joke. Give it a miss because, seriously, I wish I could have done. And what the hell does 'In Your Despite' mean anyway?
