EISBRECHER

I'll not do the obvious comparison here; but you will know exactly who I'm thinking of the moment you hear this. We have an album chock full of chest-beating quasi-industrial metal. Sung in German. Pulsing electro-beats. Staccato guitar rhythms. It makes me want to bang my head. Actually, that last one's a lie. This is dull and formulaic. Dynamically still-born and written, I'm sure, in their lunch-break. Aside from the obvious influence, there are shades of Cubanate and Headcrash. Both of whom were/are infinitely superior to this. The greatest crime though is the track 'Herzdieb'. Not because it's terrible. In fact, quite the opposite; it's Depeche Mode/‘Host’-era Paradise Lost flavour is a welcome break from the monotony of the other tracks. If they had taken tie to further hone this element for the entire album, we could have been on to a winner. Still, they didn't, and we haven't. No doubt there will be lovers of the EBM genre that will lap this up. Rock clubs will no doubt be bouncing to this too. But, for the average listener, at home, this will be a crushing disappointment. A shame.
