ELEVENER
www.elevener.com
‘Symmetry In Motion’ is Swedish band Elevener’s polished second album and is alleged to be a more than worthy follow-up to their well-received debut, the 2008 release ‘When Kaleidoscopes Collide’. Elevener’s sound is like Journey meets the more melodic soft rock side of Bon Jovi and although Pierre Wensberg possesses a fine voice, which is like a cross between Jean Beauvoir (Crown Of Thorns/Voodoo X) and Jon Bon Jovi, the band consistently fail to impress. In spite of their obvious grasp of melodies and harmonies the majority of the album is unmemorable, dull and pedestrian. ‘Tearing Me Down’, with its harder edge, stands out as a decent track and is at least worth a second listen. ‘Dare To Love’, ‘Heal Me’ and ‘For The Times We Share’ are turgid ballads with the latter being particularly awful. The album closer “Modern Times” is the most up tempo track featured but even this sounds limp and very tired. In this cliché’ ridden genre, which hardly ever pushes the boundaries, bands need to consistently deliver great songs to succeed and not produce the dreary recycled dross evident on this album. ‘Symmetry In Motion’ is more soft rock hell then AOR Heaven and I find it impossible to recommend this album to anyone. However, if you love AOR/Soft Rock please check out another recent release on this label from the highly talented Newman.
