ELYSIAN BORN
www.myspace.com/elysianborn
Ok, where to start! This is pretty well played and heavy but is so generic it hurts! It seems as though the UK scene is prolific with this sound. The band cite bands such as Pantera, Lamb of God and Children of Bodom as influences but all of these bands found their own sound rather than a generic sound shared by thousands of others. On the upside each songs goes for the throat from the very start and, although generic, the guitar has flare. The production is sharp and allows the band as a whole to shine through. The vocals, whilst good in their own way, are generic deathcore with no personality and as a band there is that feeling of trying to put too many ideas into the pot all at once in their quest for what they describe in their press release as an “intense dietry intake of bone-crushing riffage”. Ultimately, Elysian Born have the production, a heavy debut EP and all members can play but they have no individuality within an already oversaturated market.
