GRAVE
www.grave.se
Sweden’s Grave are an institution, and a reliable one at that. Responsible for a seemingly endless procession of straight up death metal since their inception in 1988, Grave’s tenth full length, ‘Endless Procession of Souls’, doesn’t see even the smallest change in direction, attitude, or style. The brakes are fucked, the accelerator is stuck down, and the steering wheel of this mighty death metal juggernaut turns not left nor right. Their capacity for building monolithic structures from rugged riffs, their dynamic control, and their heavyweight hooks are again combined for an album that is as crushing and brutal as anything they’ve ever chucked at us. Composed of the same rotten flesh from the same mound of rotting cadavers that they’ve been feasting on since day one, ‘Endless Procession of Souls’ is just what any death metal aficionado desires: solid production and solid songs. Okay, so it’s more of the same and it’s business as usual for Grave, but it’s a solid album that’s sure to serve as a heads up for the wave of emerging death metal bands out there right now.
