I LOVE RICH
Chicago band I Love Rich have been releasing albums/demos sporadically since the early 1990s and judging by the press sheets that accompanied this disc they are clearly fans of New York rock legends KISS. So it comes as no surprise that ‘Season Of The Rich’ is very much in the vein of their heroes. Having just seen KISS totally kick ass on their Sonic Boom Over Europe tour at the LG Arena, I feel that any comparison with them would be most unfair as this album doesn't feature anything as awesome as ‘Detroit Rock City’, ‘Love Gun’ or ‘Black Diamond’ but then KISS have released a lot of unimpressive material throughout their long career so you shouldn't be put off by this. The production and musicianship throughout ‘Season Of The Rich’ is basic with the five songs featured here being unoriginal and full of cliché ridden "party till I get my leg over" style lyrics. To many people this would sound like a nightmare but for anyone just looking for some good old fashioned entertainment then, like me, they will find this album to be great fun and quite enjoyable. Even though 5 tracks clocking in at just over 20 minutes doesn't seem to be great value for money ‘Seasons Of The Rich’ can still be recommended to any hero worshipping KISS fan who wants to "Rise Up For Rock And Roll" but only if they can find this at a bargain basement price.
