IMPACT

With a name like Impact and an album title of ‘Strength Through Loyalty’ it doesn’t take too much imagination to put a sound to this band, to be honest! And your first impression would probably be right! Here we have 5 songs dripping with hardcore stop/start attitude and heavily punctuated music overlayed with gritty vocals. Well produced, well conceived, and an excellent showcase for the band. Most of the songs are well constructed with great hooks. ‘Trouble Finds Me’, in particular, is an excellent example of what this band can do. I would imagine live, if they can pull off playing tightly (always required for hardcore) then they would really slay. They will be touring extensively in Europe during 2011 and I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes open for dates. Top tracks are the aforementioned ‘Trouble Finds Me’ and ‘The Remedy’ and the one filler is ‘Seconds Out’ which is too formulaic for my taste. All in all, an excellent effort.
