KILL THE CONVERSATION
www.facebook.com/KillTheConversation
Song writing aside, this is almost unbearable to listen to; the compression is way overdone, and the brick-walling is quite severe through headphones; most notably on opener 'Fold'. Geoff Swan, who handled the mixing and mastering, doesn't appear to list this band on his résumé. I can understand why. But, let's get down to the subject in hand. This is a shitty deathcore EP. This may seem unfair, as I don't really care for the genre. However, like most things in life, if something is praiseworthy it will still shine. This pig-squealing mess is really rather tedious though. No surprises in the song arrangements - all clichés are present and correct - and as such it's a tedious listen. Redeeming features? I'm struggling because, while the lads are capable of doing things with their instruments, they're all adequate rather than exemplary. Furthermore, tonally, it's all very pedestrian; no inimitable signature sounds to identify this band from an identikit line-up of a thousand other deathcore nonsense. It doesn't make me livid though, so I guess that's a plus.
