KNOCK OUT KAINE
www.knockoutkaine.com
‘House of Sins’ is the debut album from Knock Out Kaine and is pretty much a winner from start to finish, full of Classic, Sleazy and Melodic Rock anthems that will have you breaking open the Jack Daniels and not bothering with a glass or ice! I was first introduced to the band about three years ago by a good friend (Merci, Monsieur Von Six) and, to be fair, I wasn’t sure about them but I have to admit I got that wrong. I’ve been lucky enough to hear some of their earlier recorded material and see them live. In that time, the improvement has been fantastic.

Knock Out Kaine have done it the hard way (and what I think is the best way) by not trying to move too fast too quickly. They have gigged constantly, built up a loyal following and have forged a reputation as a great live band. This has paid dividends, with them being voted Kerrang’s ‘Best Unsigned Act’ in 2008 (proving that Kerrang still does some things well!!), support Steven Adler’s band Adler’s Appetite on tour and also secure a very well received slot on the PepsiMax stage at the Download Festival in 2011. This work ethic has been carried forward nicely onto the album. Production is well handled by the band, aided by Ewan Davies (Wildhearts, The Darkness) and mastered by Ray Staff (Sabbath, Priest, Zeppelin, Rush). The whole thing has a great ‘live’ feel to it, the band sound tight, hungry and confident and as a result the songs are brimming with energy.

Influences are many but I suppose if you mixed Guns N’ Roses, Cinderella and Motley Crue together you wouldn’t be too far out and as for standout tracks...well ‘Liquor Up’, ‘Little Crystal’, ‘Backstreet Romeo’ and ‘Time’ are my favourites and ‘Coming Home’ is a monster ballad that would have been all over MTV in the 1980s and a song made for raising your lighter (although in these days of Health & Safety you’ll probably have to download the Zippo App for your mobile phone instead!) So I say well done and thanks to Dean Foxx (Vocals), Jim Bohemian (Guitar), Lee Byrne (Bass) and Danny Krash (Drums) for a great album, the wait was well worth it and the only reason it’s getting the score I’ve given this is because I think the next one is going to be even better!
