LECHERY
www.lechery.se
Swedish band Lechery’s second album, ‘In Fire’, was considered a difficult one to make due to injuries, accidents and personal tragedy suffered during recording yet the high quality production, first class musicianship and anthemic song writing suggest they overcame these setbacks with great character and professionalism. ‘In Fire’, with its influences ranging from old school, NWOBHM and power metal, is generally full of strong riffs, melodic twin leads, catchy choruses and meaty rhythms. Following the short Priest like instrumental opener ‘Awakening’ the album shows its real intent with ‘Mechanical Beast’ and ‘Burning Anger’ both reminding me of Accept and, to a lesser extent, Sabaton. The corny Hammerfall/Edguy influenced ‘Heart Of A Metal Virgin’ is an awesome track, possessing a cheesy and thoroughly enjoyable chorus whilst the title track and ‘The Igniter’ sound like classic Maiden. ‘We All Gonna Rock You Tonight’, which oozes melody and is built around a riff that is both simple and effective provides a cracking finish to the album. Lechery, which features ex-Arch Enemy man Martin Bengtsson on vocals/guitar, have a more commercial sound than his former band making them more appealing to me. The consistently impressive ‘In Fire’ is guaranteed to put a smile on the face of any fan of traditional/power metal and, in these miserable times, what more could you want.
