MR DEATH

Mr Death is Swedish. That much you can tell by the sound of this CD. Mr Death also has a silly name. Just 'Death' of course was already taken, and I guess they wanted to keep the name as a personification of the grim reaper. Of course, 'Grim Reaper' is also already taken. So, the next natural step is to go formal and refer to him as 'Mr Death'. I can't think of any other reason for calling your band 'Mr Death'. Anyone? Anyway, Mr Death has two ex-members of Tiamat in their ranks. You won't be able to tell though. This is rough death metal that is very much entrenched in the nineties and refusing to leave. And it's all the better for it. These aren't technical songs; they are in the vein of early Entombed. They serve to get your pulse racing without confounding you with a maths lesson. No surprises, nothing clever, nothing boring. Just relentless old school Swedish death metal. And, it's fucking awesome. It sounds like shit, just as it should do, and lasts less than half an hour (would you really want more than that?). I cannot praise this band enough for sticking to what some may call a rigid formula, but I like to think of as a classic sound. Brutal, short, and joyous. Suit you.
