RIVAL SONS

This 6 song EP is from the 4 piece American band Rival Sons, the next big thing to hit blues style rock. As ‘Get What’s Coming’ begins to fully kick in, you really get the rustic rock ’n’ roll feel. This sounds like Black Stone Cherry on a beyond incredible day. Toe tapping beats in ‘Torture’ show just what Rival Sons are all about: big harmonies and catchy rhythms. Jay Buchanan’s vocals work wonders with this style of music - soulful and heavy, it sits perfectly alongside the raw sounding solos. ‘Radio’ has a fantastic crisp cymbal intro with gritty guitar following smoothly behind. It all slows down with ‘Sacred Tongue’, a song you could just imagine driving to with the windows down and this track really creates an atmosphere, a very nice piece to listen to. The guitar work on this EP is fantastic. ‘Sleepwalker’ is a real testament to the skill within the band. EP closer ‘Soul’ throws off the pace a little but it’s a very good song. All in all, a great EP release from a band who show a lot of promise.
