SCREAM SERENITY
www.screamserenity.com
Scream Serenity are a four piece, hailing from Lowestoft in Suffolk. The band consists of Jordan Fennell on guitar and vocals, Ian Messenger, also on guitar and vocals, bassist James Golder who also shares vocal duties and drummer Jon Lindow. ‘Eye of the Storm’ is the band's first full length studio effort, following on from some self-released EPs. The band have started to garner some attention, through supporting the likes of FM and Toseland on their respective tours and airplay, for the track 'Run Away', from the likes of Planet Rock. This release contains ten tracks that are played, almost without exception, at a frenetically ferocious and powerfully aggressive pace, but this is a controlled aggression with the band remaining tight and focused throughout.

Somewhat ironically, the track that is getting airplay and has had a video to promote it, the aforementioned 'Run Away', isn't the best song on the album although it's still good. To my mind, there are better efforts, including the title track with its low key intro and a massive riff carrying through into the outro. In fact, the band save the best for last with the final two cuts on the album, which also happen to be the longest, both clocking in at over six minutes. 'Waiting for the Answers' has an underlying Sabbath-like riff that carries the song along to a superb instrumental climax, whilst 'Rest (After The Storm)' has a slightly grungey feel to it, reminiscent of Pearl Jam or Stone Temple Pilots.

All in all, this is a very good release, full to the brim with commanding and potent compositions. The production showcases the sheer heaviness of the band's music with great clarity and the musicianship is first rate, especially the drumming with a tremendous tempo being kept up throughout. If the band can capitalise on the airplay and attention they are currently experiencing, they could be heading for a bright future.
