SHYLOCK
www.shylockmusic.de
Formed in 1998, German band Shylock's fifth album ‘Rock Buster’ displays a brand of catchy hard edged melodic pop rock, which is instantly likeable. ‘Damn Good’ and ‘Dawn’ make for a decent start but it's with the third track, a great cover version of Timex Social Club's ‘Rumours’, when the album really takes off to a higher level. ‘Somebody Else’ and ‘The Moment’ are further examples of the band's ability to deliver fine pop songs. ‘Just For U’, the more riffy ‘Much’, the epic sounding ‘Rose Of Cairo’, the closing pair ‘We Are’ and ‘Wrong Planet’ adopt a more rocking influence, all of which prove to be excellent tracks as does the power ballad ‘Strong’. ‘Rock Buster’ is a musically tight, well produced album and, on the whole, is a thoroughly enjoyable slice of melodic pop rock with enough variety to keep the listener interested.
