THE LIGHT DIVIDED

The Light Divided are a four piece who hail from the Portsmouth and Southampton areas. The band is made up of Dave on vocals and guitar, Chris on guitar, Dan on drums and vocals and Danny on bass and vocals. ‘Who We Are’ is a five track EP (although only four tracks are listed in the running order, the fifth track is a bonus) and follows on from their previous releases, ‘Ransom, For The Sake of Change’ and ‘Call To Arms’. The five tracks possess great energy and drive. The production is spot on and gives a crunch to the guitar sound, dynamism to the rhythm section and clarity to the vocals, particularly the harmonies. Each track is good in its own right but ‘Bad Blood’ and the title track have a real groove to them. The packaging for the EP is very professional which is a credit to the band as they keep both the design and promotion ‘in house’. All in all this is an excellent release, with each track having plenty of quality and extremely capable musicianship. It is clear from their website that the band tour frequently, both as headliners and support (they’ve supported The Blackout and Heaven’s Basement in the past) and, if the music on offer here is anything to go by, they must be great to see live. I for one would like to find out!
