TRICORN
www.tricornband.com
Hailing from Portsmouth with their no thrills, back to basic playing style reminiscent of Motorhead and Black Sabbath, Tricorn unleash their self-titled debut album that is anything but simple. Focusing on the core foundations of rock solid bass and drums accompanied by gritty vocals, this is a band that delivers a brutal assault on the senses from start to finish. Their natural sound and classic rock style should appeal to anyone who associates themselves with the alternative music scene. Each and every track is best played blaring from the speakers so that it can penetrate your very being. It’s hard not to want to crank up the volume and start head banging to such quality music. To choose a favourite from such an amazing set of tracks is next to impossible but the tracks that stood out for me were ‘Step Outside’, ‘Crawl’ and ‘Give Me Some More’ each of which made me wish my speakers could go to 11. If this is the sound they can create in only 6 days and with next to no post-production work then no wonder they have a growing fan base that will only be getting bigger. In an age where bands have more work done to their songs outside of the recording room to the point that they sound completely different live, it is refreshing to go back to basics and hear the raw, unfiltered, kick arse sound of rock ‘n’ roll.
