WHEN WORDS FAIL
www.facebook.com/whenwordsfail
When Words Fail are a quintet from Swindon and they’ve been together for a year or so. The band consists of William Hargreaves on vocals, guitarist and vocalist DJ Harman, guitarist James Broadbank, Scott Betz on bass and drummer Jamie Loddington. ‘Eyes on Everything’ is the band’s debut EP and for a debut it’s pretty good. The title track opens proceedings and is full of energy and has melody and metal in equal measure. The riffing is powerful but the vocals and the drum sound are probably the highlights. ‘Over Again’ follows and is in a similar vein to its predecessor except that, if anything, it’s a little heavier. ‘Something for Nothing’ is the third and final track and it is similar to the first couple but the vocals are perhaps at their strongest and clearest. This is a strong release and is well produced with each element of the band fitting well into the mix. My only concern, as with The Light Divided who were reviewed elsewhere on these pages recently, is that they find a niche and enough originality to help them stand out a little more from the crowd.
