XERATH
England, the country where most people say our beloved metal music was born, has delivered once again - Xerath. Without any more presentations, because I honestly think they will soon not need any, ‘III’ is the dream for any melodic/symphonic death metal lover. If you’re a fan of beautiful, “movie-like” orchestrations, this album is something to look for. The only flaw I could point to on this record, which made it hard to understand at first, is the evident break and change of style half way through it. However, you can’t really judge this kind of album by this, it’s an album that goes beyond the music. It’s an entire journey that you can try to follow or not. Epic from the beginning until the end, this band should write an entire OST for a violent, tasteful movie. ‘Hold Dominion’ announces the avalanche of emotions this album will bring you, along with the aggression so exquisitely measured. Powerful and impressive growling pairing beautifully with authoritative and robust guitar and bass-lines, work together in perfect harmony with brilliantly composed orchestration and clean vocals. This is the place where I wanted some current famous bands to end but, fortunately, we have got the fresh sounding Xerath. Fleshgod Apocalypse and SepticFlesh paired together with some notes of Devin Townsend in a movie, that’s the only way I can compare them to anything. A very unique mix that will make anyone want to watch this 4 member band (that sound more like 7) live.
