BURIAL SHRINE

Oh, for fuck's sake. I like extreme metal a lot. What I don't like is for my ears to be tortured by horribly compressed and over-amped production. I honestly felt like switching this off before the first song was finished. The drums are so loud and clipped that it drowns out what I think is some decent black metal type guitar playing. Otherwise, this is just really shit to listen to. I've done some crappy recordings in my time, but I don't think I could ever be held up for assault with any of them.

Right, I suppose I should end with something positive. The title track, 'Labyrinth of Bridges', is both epic and brutal. The production on this is a bit tamer (possibly to allow the guest violin to shine through). As a result, I found I could happily listen to that track more than once. Also, the vocalist sounds a bit like Karl Willetts, so that's good.
