NAPALM DEATH
www.napalmdeath.org
It's been over five years since Napalm Death's last studio album, albeit 2018's 'Coded Smears and More Uncommon Slurs' was a very welcome compilation of rarities, B-sides, Japanese bonus tracks, etc. And the hard-working, hard-touring legends have been busy working on a brand new record, for which this single (albeit erroneously billed as an EP in press blurb), seems to be a taster. One new song, 'Logic Ravaged by Brute Force', and one cover, their take on Sonic Youth's 'White Kross' are all we have to go on here. But WOW! The new track is amazing! Mid to up-tempo groove infused grind, with clean vocals and growls, and some seriously menacing melodies. This isn’t the all-out ferociously brutal side of Napalm, yet somehow still channels a brooding brutality that they always convey so utterly convincingly. And the Sonic Youth cover’s a bit nifty, too.

Released both digitally and on 7" vinyl, the latter is being made available as an unlimited black edition; 200 in blue; 100 in light green; 100 in neon yellow; and 600 orange copies that'll only be available from the band while they're on tour. So some serious collectable stuff right there, for all you avid Napalm Death devotees. And, as a forthcoming new album teaser, it does indeed provide an all too moist whetting of the appetite. Promised for release later this year, bring it on!
